Azusa Pacific Baseball's 2026 Schedule: A Season of Challenges and Opportunities
The Azusa Pacific baseball team has unveiled an exciting and demanding 2026 schedule, setting the stage for a season filled with local rivalries, conference matchups, and road trips across the West Coast. Here's a breakdown of the key dates and highlights.
Season Kickoff: January 30th
The Cougars will begin their journey on Friday, January 30, facing off against local rival Cal Poly Pomona in a split series. The season opener will take place in Pomona, followed by the home opener on Saturday, January 31, at the Cougar Baseball Complex, featuring a doubleheader.
Early Season Tests
After the opening weekend, APU hosts Northwest Nazarene for a doubleheader on February 3. They then hit the road for a three-game series at Cal State Monterey Bay from February 5-7. The team returns to Southern California for a four-game split against Westmont, playing in Santa Barbara on the 13th and hosting the Warriors for a doubleheader on the 14th.
Conference Play and Hawaii Road Trip
The PacWest Conference play intensifies with a four-game home series against Fresno Pacific (February 19-21). Following this, the Cougars embark on their longest road trip, flying to Hawaii for an eight-game stretch. They face Chaminade in Honolulu from February 28 to March 2, followed by a four-game series against Hawaii Pacific from March 5-7.
Mid-Season Homestands and Rivalries
Upon returning to the mainland, the team enjoys a significant homestand in mid-March. They host Hawaii Hilo for four games (March 14-16) and welcome Jessup for a four-game set (March 27-28). A highlight of this period is a rivalry clash with Point Loma, featuring a doubleheader in San Diego on March 20 and a home twin bill in Azusa on March 21.
Late-Season Push and Road Trips
April brings intensified competition as the regular season winds down. The month starts with a split series against Biola and midweek action against Vanguard. A major highlight is a road trip to St. George, Utah, where the Cougars face Division I Utah Tech for a four-game series from April 10-12.
The regular season concludes with a split series against Concordia Irvine and a final road trip to Atherton to face Menlo.
Postseason: PacWest Conference Tournament
The Cougars will look to extend their season into May at the PacWest Conference Tournament. The postseason begins on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, in Santa Barbara, California.
