Attention all Disney fans! An exciting, yet controversial, project is about to begin at the Magic Kingdom. The iconic Cinderella Castle is getting a fresh coat of paint, and it's a move that has sparked debate among enthusiasts.
Starting in January 2026, Disney will embark on a mission to restore Cinderella Castle's classic charm. This extensive project will continue well into the year, transforming the castle's exterior. But here's where it gets interesting: the process will involve some temporary changes to the park's entertainment offerings.
The initial step will be a noticeable one - draining the castle's moat. This allows workers to access and prepare the lower sections of the castle for painting. Higher sections will be reached using cranes, which Disney plans to discreetly remove from view each day by noon, ensuring they don't spoil the park's daytime aesthetics and guest experiences.
From January 28 onwards, Disney will make adjustments to certain shows. The Let the Magic Begin welcome show will undergo modifications during the repainting project. However, fear not, as Mickey's Magical Friendship Faire and Happily Ever After will continue as usual, with only minor adjustments as necessary.
While no specific end date has been announced for these entertainment changes, they are expected to remain in place until the castle's exterior work is complete. So, Disney fans, what are your thoughts on this transformation? Is it a necessary update or a potential disruption to the magic? We'd love to hear your opinions in the comments below!
