It's not just about setting the stage for Avengers: Secret Wars; it's also about determining the fate of many iconic heroes. This means some familiar faces may not be returning after the credits roll, including a fan-favorite actor who has been with the MCU since the very beginning.
We already know that Avengers: Doomsday will bring Chris Evans out of his brief retirement to reprise his role as Steve Rogers. This was confirmed in a teaser trailer that showcased Evans in his iconic Captain America role. This particular trailer features Chris Hemsworth's Thor, seemingly pleading for strength. His prayer to the gods of Asgard appears to be a response to Robert Downey Jr.'s Doctor Doom. With such a formidable threat looming, it could mean the end of Hemsworth's time as the God of Thunder, either in Avengers: Doomsday or Avengers: Secret Wars.
It would make sense, considering Hemsworth's long tenure in the role, and with Marvel Studios likely planning some kind of reset after Avengers: Secret Wars. But here's where it gets controversial...
