Maidstone Borough Council is offering a unique opportunity to two community groups or charities. They can now utilize the Mote Hall at the Maidstone Leisure Centre for free, thanks to a collaboration between the council and Maidstone Leisure Trust. This 1,200-seater sports hall is usually a costly hire, with rates reaching up to £2,100. Cabinet member David Naghi emphasizes the hall's potential as a "fantastic space to bring communities together."
The council has set clear criteria for selection, prioritizing groups that align with specific events. These include sporting or cultural events, those that are unlikely to proceed without the free use, not-for-profit initiatives, and events that support young people. Additionally, organizations that benefit the borough's residents will be given priority.
Each organization is limited to one application for an event scheduled between April 1 and March 31, 2027. The application deadline is set for midnight on February 1. This initiative aims to provide a valuable resource to community groups, fostering connections and supporting local initiatives. The council encourages eligible organizations to take advantage of this opportunity and contribute to the vibrant community life in Maidstone.
